We went on the train ride first, because rain was coming soon.
Playing on playground near train depot after getting off train.
Walking the trails to see different animals
There are wolves in there
Badger
An old schoolhouse (1850)
An old homestead as it was in pioneer times. Can't remember if this is a replica or original. I think it was an original moved from somewhere to there.
Sheep on the homestead. There was also a chicken coop and some other birds.
Petting the goats in the barn on the homestead
feeding the cow of the homestead
Bald Eagle and other birds of prey
Baby bison
With Mommy bison
The real bison
And, soon after we arrived at the bison lookout spot, it was feeding time, so we got to see them up close.
And, elk which were afraid of the bison and would not come eat where they were
Then we happened upon a birds of prey show, which was perfect timing, too.
We learned all about turkey vultures (above), Barn Owls and Barred Owls.
Pretty neat creatures. Although, the turkey vultures are nasty.
Amazing, though, how God designed each of these very distinctly and purposefully.
Barn owl up close and personal. We were in the front row. Pretty cool. We got to see him demonstrate flying to catch a mouse. He flew right over us from the back of the room.
And, a Barred Owl. Both pretty cool to watch, see up close and learn about.
And, we ended the day going down the giant slide.
We did get rained on, but not too badly.
Notice the theme of May and June? -- lots of overcast and rain
