Love the old architecture
The entrance and main floor was beautiful
So exciting to see Sue - the largest, most complete and best preserved T-rex ever discovered (from the Black Hills, South Dakota). Amazing to see it life size in person!
We then went through a shrinking machine and saw the underworld. Pretty cool. Hudson was scared and thought we were really going to shrink, thinking it might hurt :).
Since we're studying Ancient Egypt this year, it was especially intriguing to see the Egyptian exhibit. Amazing to see the so well preserved 4000+ yr old hieroglyphs, mummies, artifacts, etc. Hudson and Kerrigan trying to pull a block that Egyptians pulled to build the pyramids. Very heavy!

Most of the dinosaur bones are real, but complete dinosaur skeletons are extremely rare. To display a full dinosaur skeleton, scientists fill in the missing bones with casts or sculpted replicas from other fossils of the same species. Of the 1200 specimens at the Evolving Planet exhibition, 90% are real.
Sutton's favorite part was the Native American exhibits. She is very into 'Indians'.
A model of an Iroquois dwelling and a life-size model as well. They all slept in one big dwelling!
Sutton's American Girl Doll - Kaya - is a Nez Perce Indian, so Sutton has an affinity for them -- the clothing above belonged to Nez Perce. Neat to see all the handmade tools and more well preserved artifacts.
There were a bunch of other animal exhibits.
Never knew there were so many different species of birds!
Neat to see the display of the evolution of shoes display.

We swam in the hotel pool and took dinner out from a new favorite restaurant that is packed every time we've been by it. We've never eaten there, because the wait is always too long. Yummy food and sustainably farmed, organic and grass-fed, too!
Made our usual stop in another favorite little historic, cute town - La Grange on the way home the next day -- we found this town on a visit a while back, because there is the last Trader Joe's there on the way out of Chicago.

FUN! I love the architecture too. I can't help but wonder... is that the same museum from Night At The Museum movies?? Looks a lot like it.

Yes, I believe it is the same museum that was in that museum. That's what I've heard anyway.
