Extended Outside Time -- Finally!

We've been enjoying the recent sun around here.  Spring is finally showing up!  It's still been cold, until this past weekend, but we enjoyed being outside in the sun, nonetheless.  We've been working in the badly overgrown and in bad shape back yard, as well as getting the garden ready.  It's been a good little family project.  This project has taken place over the last three weekends, so these are all from different days.  You can see how it progressively gets warmer....

Started with turning over all the soil in the original garden plot.
The garden area is quite large.  We're excited to see what we can grow in it.  Doug keeps telling me this is the best soil in America.  We'll see how that benefits our garden, while trying to fight more pests than we're used to in California - organically.
Making paths to get to the middle of the garden
Hudson fixing a fence with his tools he got for his birthday from Aunt Helen

taking all the cuttings to the burn pile

We've planted spinach, lettuce, swiss chard, carrots, beets, green beans and sugar snap peas so far.  We'll see how they fare.  We have to be careful of frost here until about Apr. 21.
