We discussed it some with the kids and explained that we are no different than that boy, but by the grace of God. That that is what happens when bitterness, anger, malice take root and grow while the truth of God and His love and redemption is not known or believed. We all have the capacity to do such evil. Sin is awful and to be hated. As this article does a good job of articulating how this should humble us and see ourselves and our hearts for what they are, hating our own sin and hope in a Holy God who has sent His Son to take the wrath we deserve and give us the righteousness we cannot have on our own. And hope in an eternal home without sin or sorrow.

Heartbroken
When Doug asked me earlier tonight if I'd heard about the Connecticut school shootings, I had only heard a small snippet on the radio, but not really what had happened or any details. When he told me, I could not help but cry and feel my heart ache for the parents of so many little ones all the ages of my own children and 11 days before Christmas. So sad. So devastating.
