Manuel Antonio to San Jose (May 10 & 11)

On Mother's Day eve (Saturday), we moved to a hotel for our last night in Manuel Antonio. Our first choices of hotels didn't have any vacancies or were for adults only, so we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called Mango Moon. It wasn't great and was in need of some work, but it was better than the house! We had a good night of sleep and a nice breakfast with a great view.

Through talking with the owners (a married couple and another guy) we found out that they moved from Florida & had just bought the place after staying there a few months prior. In further talking, we found out that the husband, Brian, was in a band. Doug asked which band, thinking they were a small band that played a bit here and there around Costa Rica. Turns out, he was the bass player for Creed and now plays for Alter Bridge. That was kind of a neat little thing to add to our adventure.

I sat here and blogged in the morning -- finally with high speed wi-fi. We also had breakfast on this patio downstairs from our room. It was nice. The kids had a blast playing with the owners' two big siberian husky/wolf dogs. They called them "white fang".

We checked out around noon and headed for San Jose to catch our flight home early the next morning. We crossed a couple of these rickety bridges. It was a bit scary wondering if it would hold us, but we saw big semis and busses crossing them, so figured we'd be OK.

some of the lush green pastures & hills along the way.

These caiman (a crocodilian reptile) were under the bridge. This is the second time we'd seen them. We saw them under a small bridge right near the mouth of the river to the ocean in Playa Carillo. We'll never go in a brown river!

we drove through more beautiful green hills/mountains

We'd never been so happy to stay in a Hampton Inn! It was nice and clean with nice beds. Another great night of sleep and nice shower with breakfast! We quickly ate breakfast to catch the 6:15 airport shuttle over to catch our 9am flight.

The reptiles... do they eat them, by any chance?
