Mendoza Day 7

On our last day in Mendoza, we went to breakfast at a cafe around the corner from our apt. We then walked over to and around Parque San Martin.

One of the people that we had met the night before at Vines of Mendoza was Matt, their VP of Sales & Marketing. He, his wife, and their 2 kids moved to Argentina from San Francisco a year ago. We had a great conversation and he suggested a play date for Sutton and their six year old daughter, Olivia. We were amazed to see how fluent in Spanish Olivia is after just one year--Matt said it took her only six months to be fluent. Her school is in Spanish in the morning and English in the afternoon.

We really enjoyed Matt's company and had lunch together. Later that night we went back to the Vines for a final wine tasting and hung out with his wife Vanessa as well.

Can you tell Doug hadn't had his coffee yet?

we've reduced the kids to warm milk - no more submarinos or hot chocolate. They had fun having 'coffee' in their little cups.

Olivia brought a friend, too. They were on a break from school.

The kids had a great time after they warmed up to each other. Sutton had a really good time. It's been nice that we have met lots of kids her age that she's gotten to play with. She seems to really miss having friends to play with. She cried really hard after we left Olivia. Doug used it as an opportunity to teach a life lesson - that friends come and go. That we can always remain friends, but sometimes we live far apart.
